How to update your settings, notifications, timezone, language preferences, and manage your bookings.

Accessing Your Settings

Go to Settings from the menu to manage your account. Here you'll find options for your profile, notifications, and preferences.

Profile Settings

Personal Information

Update your basic details:

  • Name — How tutors will address you
  • Email — Used for booking confirmations and notifications
  • Profile photo — Helps tutors recognise you
  • Bio — Optional, but useful for telling tutors about your learning goals

Timezone

Your timezone is auto-detected when you sign up, but you can change it at any time. This is important — all booking times are displayed based on your timezone setting.

Go to Settings > Profile and select the correct timezone from the dropdown.

Language Preferences

Set your preferences for:

  • Interface language — The language TutorLingua displays in (English or Spanish)
  • Learning language — The language you're studying (affects game and AI practice)

Notifications

Control how and when you receive notifications:

Email Notifications

  • Booking confirmations — When a lesson is booked or confirmed
  • Lesson reminders — Sent before upcoming lessons
  • Cancellation alerts — When a tutor cancels or reschedules
  • Game reminders — Daily nudge to play the language game

Push Notifications

If you've installed TutorLingua as a progressive web app (PWA), you can receive push notifications on your device.

Toggle each notification type on or off in Settings > Notifications.

Managing Your Bookings

Viewing Upcoming Lessons

Go to Dashboard to see all your upcoming lessons. Each booking shows:

  • Tutor name
  • Date and time (in your timezone)
  • Service type
  • Meeting link

Rescheduling a Lesson

  1. Open the booking from your dashboard
  2. Click Reschedule
  3. Choose a new available time
  4. Confirm the change

Both you and the tutor will receive updated confirmations.

Cancelling a Lesson

  1. Open the booking
  2. Click Cancel
  3. Select a reason (optional)
  4. Confirm the cancellation

Check the tutor's cancellation policy — some require 24 hours' notice to avoid being charged.

Session Packages

If you've purchased a session package from a tutor, you can view your remaining credits in Dashboard > Packages.

Each package shows:

  • Total sessions purchased
  • Sessions used
  • Sessions remaining
  • Expiry date (if applicable)

Deleting Your Account

If you want to delete your account:

  1. Go to Settings > Account
  2. Click Delete Account
  3. Confirm the deletion

This permanently removes your profile, booking history, and all associated data. This action cannot be undone.

Note: If you have upcoming bookings, please cancel them before deleting your account.
