What Is AI Practice?
AI practice lets you have conversation sessions with an AI language partner. It's available 24/7 and responds in real time, so you can practise whenever it suits you.
Think of it as a patient, always-available speaking partner that adapts to your level.
How It Works
- Go to the AI Practice section from the main menu
- Choose the language you want to practise
- Select a conversation topic or let the AI suggest one
- Start chatting — type or use voice input
- The AI responds naturally and corrects your mistakes
The AI adjusts its complexity based on your level. Beginners get simpler vocabulary and grammar, while advanced learners get more natural, idiomatic responses.
What You Can Practise
Conversation
Free-flowing chat on everyday topics — introductions, travel, hobbies, work, food, and more. The AI keeps the conversation going and asks follow-up questions.
Grammar Drills
Request specific grammar exercises. Tell the AI what you want to focus on (e.g., "past tense", "subjunctive mood") and it'll create targeted practice.
Vocabulary Building
The AI introduces new words in context, gives you example sentences, and quizzes you on retention. Great for expanding your active vocabulary.
Pronunciation Feedback
Using voice input, the AI can assess your pronunciation and suggest improvements. It highlights words you might be mispronouncing.
Role Play
Practise real-world scenarios like ordering food, booking a hotel, or having a job interview — all in your target language.
Session Limits
AI practice sessions have limits based on your plan:
| Plan | Monthly Sessions | Session Length | |------|-----------------|---------------| | Free | 5 sessions | 10 minutes each | | Pro | Unlimited | 30 minutes each | | Studio | Unlimited | 30 minutes each |
Sessions reset at the start of each calendar month. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited access.
AI vs Real Tutor
Both AI practice and real tutors have their place. Here's when to use each:
Use AI Practice When:
- You want to practise at odd hours (late night, early morning)
- You need quick, low-pressure conversation practice
- You're preparing for a lesson and want to warm up
- You want to drill specific grammar points repeatedly
- Your budget is limited
Book a Real Tutor When:
- You need cultural context and nuance
- You want feedback on complex writing or formal speech
- You're preparing for an exam or certification
- You learn better with human connection and accountability
- You need help with advanced or specialised topics
The best approach? Use both. AI practice between lessons keeps your skills sharp, while real tutors provide the depth and personalisation that AI can't match.
Tips for Better AI Sessions
- Be specific — Tell the AI exactly what you want to practise
- Use voice input — Speaking is harder than typing, and that's the point
- Ask for corrections — Say "correct my mistakes" and the AI will be more explicit
- Review the session — Read back through the conversation to spot patterns
- Set a goal — "Today I'll practise past tense for 10 minutes"
Next Steps
- Play the language game for another way to practise daily
- Find a tutor for personalised lessons
